Celibacy

Some males and females remain single, unmarried for various reasons. Aversion for marriage, strong desire for social and religious services, impotency physical defects, homosexual tendency or other sexual perversions, heavy domestic responsibility, depression caused by disappointment in love, fears about married life, mental diseases, lack of opportunities for getting married or other factors may force the people to remain unmarried.

According to astrological principles, strong afflictions to the significators of marriage cause celibacy. Venus, Moon, Sun, Mars, the planets in the 7th house and the ruler of the 7th house are the main significators of marriage. Saturn, Uranus and Neptune may create obstacles for marriage if they are in adverse aspect to the significators. Saturn plays a major role in many cases, as it is the planet for delay, denial, difficulties, obstacles and defects.

Uranus is the planet for perversions, peculiarities, eccentricity, unusual and unconventional actions and odd behaviour. Neptune is the planet for illusions, dreams, deception, false attraction, idealism, philosophy, secrecy, solitude and defects. It makes the unreal look real.

The dispositor of the significators also play an important role in many cases. Dispositor means the ruler of the sign occupied by the significator. For example, Saturn is the dispositor if Capricorn is the 7th house occupied by the significator, and the position of Saturn by sign, house and aspects should be considered in judgement.

Renunciation

Many saints, yogis and peethadhipathis, nuns, fathers, mothers, bishops and other remain unmarried to lead spiritual and religious live. We find Moon-Saturn afflictions or Venus-Mars or Venus-Saturn afflictions in the horoscopes of such people who renunciated after marriage or remained single as bachelors or spinsters.

Swamy Vivekananda born on 12^th January 1863 at 06:33 AM in Calcutta remained as a bachelor. The planetary positions are

Ascendant or Rising sign-Capricorn. Sun 12-22 and Venus 29-02 both in Capricorn Mars in Aries 28-16, Mercury in Aquarius 3-34 Ruling Planet Saturn is exalted in Libra 8-32 while ruler of the 7th house Moon is closely associated with Saturn in Libra 9-24. Jupiter is in the 10th house Libra 25-50.

The 7^th lord and general significator Moon is afflicted by Saturn. Further, the other significator Venus in the sign of Saturn is afflicted by the exact square aspect of Mars and also Jupiter. Sun is also squared by Mars and Jupiter. These strong adverse aspects are responsible for celibacy. The four planets Sun, Venus, Mars and Jupiter in cardinal signs and angles made him a great orator and world famous philosopher. The afflictions are so strong that it is very difficult to get married and even if married, the married will not last long. Separation, renunciation or death may be inevitable.

Similar afflictions to the significators for marriage will be found in the horoscopes of females who renunciated or remained as spinsters for social or religious services.

Lack of opportunities

Male born on 9th October 1915 at 06:00AM, latitude 19.06 North, longitude 84.44 East, with the following planetary positions: Libra: Ascendant 19.58, Venus 21.36 Sun 14.39 Moon 16.19; Cancer-Saturn 16.06, Leo-Mars 0.38 and Neptune 2.15. Scorpio-Mercury 6.47, Aquarius Uranus 11.49, and Pisces-Jupiter 20.45. The three significators Moon, Venus and Sun are afflicted by the square aspect. He is healthy, strong, educated and popular. He is a politician, poet, astrologer, critic and a good orator, but remained unmarried due to the strong afflictions to the significators. A lady now aged 64, remained unmarried. Planetary positions: Ascendant Scorpio 7 degrees 15' Mars-Aquarius 9 degrees 03', Uranus-Taurus 10-53, retrograde; Moon-Leo 18-10, Venus-Scorpio 13-51, Jupiter-Capricorn 24-42, Sun-Sagittarius 1-15, Mercury Sagittarius 15-26, Saturn-Pisces 28-29 and Neptune-Virgo 20-54. Uranus in the 7th house, Taurus in retrograde motion afflicts the ruler of the 7th house Venus in Scorpio and also Mars, the ruler of the 1st house. Mars & Venus are afflicted by square aspect. Venus and Moon are in square aspect. All the four planets Uranus, Venus, Mars and Moon form a grand square in fixed signs and angles. She is highly educated and in a respectable good position. But she remained unmarried due to the severe afflictions. Another postgraduate fair lady aged 56 has the following positions of planets at the time of birth. Ascendant Libra with Jupiter in the 1st house Mercury, Venus and Sun are in Capricorn in exact opposition to Moon, Mars and Saturn in Cancer. Jupiter is in square to Sun, Venus, Mars & Saturn. The Ruler of 7th & 1st house Venus & Mars are in exact opposition. Saturn & Mars are in exact conjunction in opposition to Sun & Venus. These severe afflictions caused celibacy. Sincere efforts were made in vain from her 20th year to get her married. She continued studies, completed post graduation, employed in a good position but remained unmarried. Another educated and well placed rich lady aged 43 is yet to be married. Mars ruler of the first house is in the 7th house. Taurus 25 degrees, in exact square to the ruler of the 7th house Venus in Leo 25 degrees conjunct Mercury in Leo 25 degrees. Moon in Gemini squares Sun in Virgo and opposes Saturn in Sagittarius. Saturn in the 7th house Sagittarius-retrograde, afflicting Mercury-the ruler of 1st house in Pisces by square aspect and ruler of the 7th house Jupiter retrograde in Leo, are responsible for abnormal delay of the marriage of a lady aged 46, highly qualified, well employed and rich. Moon, Venus, Mars and Sun are not afflicted in this case. Retrograde Saturn in the 7th, and retrograde ruler of the 7th (Jupiter) are creating obstacles.
