Priest & Flowers

A priest goes to a temple with few flowers in hand. He finds a magic plate at the entrance of the temple which doubles (in number) anything that is put in it. He puts all the flowers he has into that magic plate and the flowers double. He takes all of them and visits the temple and offers few flowers before the deity.

With the remaining flowers in hand he visits another temple. There he finds two magic plates at the entrance. These plates also have similar magic power. So, he puts all flowers in the first plate and they become double. He takes them and puts them in the second plate. They become double. Now, he visits the deity and offers the same number of flowers that were offered in the first temple.

With the remaining flowers in hand he visits a third temple. This time, he finds three magic plates at the entrance of the third temple. These plates also have magic power. So, he puts the flowers in the first plate and they become double. He takes them and puts them in the second plate. They become double. He again takes them and puts them in the third plate. They become double. Now, he offers the same number of flowers that were offered in the first temple.

Finally, he leaves the third temple with one flower in hand.

The question is, to begin with how many flowers did the priest have and how many flowers did he offer at each temple?
